This was contained in a statement signed by Aderemi Ladigbolu, BASL’s Head of Corporate Communications Department, on Monday in Lagos.

It said Penninck made immense contribution to the growth of BASL into a world class organisation, and MMA2’s emergence as the number one airport terminal in Nigeria.
It said Williams was appointed at a time the company was consolidating on its achievements to be repositioned as a world class template in airport management.
The statement added: “BASL plans to leverage on over 10 years’ experience as the pioneering operator of the country’s first, highly successful, Build, Operate and Transfer concession, as it sets the pace of new development in the industry.
“The appointment of the new CEO also aligns with the vision of BASL’s Chairman, Dr Wale Babalakin, to continuously infuse cerebral thinking into the development and administration of critical infrastructure within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
“This is to ensure the highest level of safety, efficiency and excellence in service delivery and asset management.”
The statement said Williams was a Federal Airport Authority and International Civil Aviation Organisation certified Airline Transport Pilot.
According to the statement, the new CEO has flown over 10,000 flight hours both locally and internationally, in addition to various type ratings on airplanes.
“Williams joins BASL from Akwa Ibom State Government-owned Ibom Airport Development Company operator of Akwa Ibom International Airport, where he served as Managing Director from 2009 to 2015,” it said.
The statement said Williams arrival at MMA2 Terminal was a sign of Bi-Courtney’s renewed confidence as the company reposition for exciting new opportunities in the Nigerian aviation sector.
