Amosun Rewards Hardworking Civil Servants with Houses, Presents 160 Housing Units

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, rewarded the hard work and dedication to duty of four civil servants in the state, by presenting each one of them with keys to 2-bedroom apartments at the AAK Degun Estate, Laderin, Abeokuta.
The workers who were rewarded include Mrs. Folashade Adekoya, an Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE; Mr. Isiaka Alani Sule, a staff of the Governor’s Office; Alhaji Adeshina Waheed and Pastor Wole Dosunmu both of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
Explaining why these civil servants were picked out for the reward, Governor Amosun said it was simply to show that hard work and dedication to duty pays.
He explained that in the case of Adekoya, she was picked for the reward because of her selfless and untiring service as a traffic officer. “Come rain, come sunshine, she is always at her duty post working and she never knew that I was noticing her,” the governor said.
A similar scenario applied to Sule, Waheed and Dosunmu who were all rewarded by the governor for dedication to duty.
Apart from the four civil servants who were rewarded, the event also witnessed the presentation of keys to other beneficiaries of the 160-housing unit built solely for civil servants.
While presenting keys to the beneficiaries, the Ogun State governor urged them to properly maintain the estate community. He also called on the private sector to partner with the state government in its estate development drive with a view to addressing the housing challenge in the state.
Governor Amosun said his administration acknowledges the socio-economic problems militating against house ownership especially among the low-income civil servants urging investors in the private sector to help in providing affordable and befitting housing.
He explained that the A.A.K Degun Estate, successfully completed by his administration was designed and constructed to meet the needs of middle-income earning civil servants as a way of helping them to realise their dreams of becoming house owners.
The event also witnessed the commissioning of the Laderin Neighborhood Market, built specifically to service the Laderin Estate and its environs.
In his remarks, Ogun State Head of Service, Elder Olusola Adeyemi, appreciated the state government for deeming it fit to provide such befitting and affordable housing unit for the public servants in the state.
On her part, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing and General Manager, Ogun State Housing Corporation, Mrs. Jumoke Akinwunmi, said the idea of the housing estate was to create an environment and a home for civil servants with neighbourhood centre, retail stores, market, playground and landscaping all at an affordable price.
