Amosun Solicits Support of DFID to Strengthen Civil, Public Service
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has solicited the support of the United Kingdom based Department For International Development (DFID), in the training of civil and public servants in the state.
While hosting a delegation from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office in Abeokuta yesterday, the governor said this will add value to good governance.
The governor emphasised the importance of the public service to government and governance, stating that the need for the of a vibrant institution cannot be over emphasised.
According to him, this is why his administration is working towards a system-driven public service with the strengthening of institutions rather than individuals.
“The government wants capacity development to be entrenched and indoctrinated into the system, so that others coming behind can align and make the state a reference point,” he added.
Amosun acknowledged the support of the DFID towards the success of his administration, requesting for further collaboration in the education and health sectors.
Speaking with news men after the meeting, Leader of the delegation, Mr. David Ukagwu, disclosed that his agency would support the state government in strengthening service delivery, which he said, would affect all sectors of the economy.
He said DFID would also be focusing on institutions that support ease of doing business in the state.
