Alake Inaugurated as New Ogun Obas’ Council

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has been inaugurated as the new chairman of the  Ogun State Council of Obas by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Gbadebo, takes over from the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, at the inauguration at the Obas’ complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, yesterday.
Amosun, in his address, urged the  traditional rulers to continue their role as agents of peace in their domain, as the 2019 general elections approach.
While describing the traditional institution as a major stakeholder in the socio-political life of the nation, the governor stressed the need for the royal father’s to continue to play fatherly roles more than ever before.
He also urged them to preach peace and enjoin their subjects to eschew violence, before, during and after the elections.
He assured that his government would continue to channel resources towards the completion of ongoing projects throughout the state.
Olugbenle, in his speech, expressed satisfaction with the state government, for creating a conducive atmosphere for the council to  discharge its duties as assigned by God, soliciting support of members  for the new chairman.
Gbadebo in his response, assured the state government that the council would not renege on its statutory responsibility as stipulated by law.
The chairman said he would collaborate with other royal fathers  to institutionalise the leadership and exemplary vision of the state government, towards taking the state to greater height.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, noted that the paramount rulers have continually supported  the programmes of the state government and have keyed into the state government’s  vision and mission to rebuild the state.
