The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the July 14th governorship election in Ekiti State, Akin Ayegbusi has declared that the people of the state are about to witness a new dawn if elected as the governor of the state.

Speaking at the official flag-off of his campaign in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Thursday, the banker-turned politician affirmed that his emergence as a governorship candidate of a formidable party like SDP has set a new political order in the state and his victory at the poll is going to usher in a new dawn for the people.

“ My coming on board as the candidate of a strong party like SDP has definitely shown that it is a new era in the state, we are here for a serious business, we have a convincing covenant with God to give a new lease of life to our people. It is a fact that the state can be better than the way it is currently. Ekiti has an enduring legacy as a people of integrity, honour and forthrightness; this must not be compromised in any form. And this legacy must translate into the overall development of our people. That is why we are here. Am assuring the great people of Ekiti State that my victory at the election is going to be a new dawn in the state, an era of abundance, unprecedented socio-economic development, transparency and accountability in public governance.” he assured.

The governorship candidate who was accompanied by his running mate, Princess Yemisi Adetayo advised the electorates and the people at large to make a wise choice and secure the future through him. “This is a special appeal to the Ekiti electorates; we should not make any mistake in the coming election that will once again plunge us into another four years in wilderness. They should come out in their multitude to vote for SDP, a party that is determined to deliver a rewarding future.” He declared.

The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the party’s flag to Ayegbusi in the presence of national and state party officials which include the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdul Ahmed, the National Secretary, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, the National Organising Secretary, Rt.
