Another Ex-Governor, Dariye Found Guilty Of Corruption

A former Plateau State Governor, Joshua Dariye, has been found guilty of corruption.
A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gudu, Abuja found the former governor guilty on a six count charge of unlawful transfer of N1.126 billion ecological fund of his state to the South West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The case was brought before Justice Adebukola Banjoko about 11 years ago by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Dariye, who ruled Plateau State between 1999 and 2007, was was arraigned by the EFCC on July 13, 2007 on allegations of money laundering and other corruption charges.
The EFCC caused him of moving funds into the account of Ebenezer Ratnen Venture, alleged to be one of the companies through which he siphoned the funds.
A former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, was last week sentenced to 28 years imprisonment on a two-count charge in a case of corruption brought against him by the EFCC.
The sentences are to run concurrently, hence Nyame is to spend 14 years in jail.
