The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila is leading a delegation of the National Assembly to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) holding in Kampala, Uganda.
The National Assembly delegation comprises the Deputy Senate President, Sen Obie Omo-Agege, some senators and Honourable Members of the House.
The conference, which is expected to last until September 29, has the theme ‘Adaptation, engagement and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth.’
During the conference, the Nigerian delegation would join other parlimentarians to identify solutions to challenges that are commonly faced by member parliaments as well as enhance democratic values and practices.
The CPA flagship event will bring together over 500 parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and decision-makers from across the Commonwealth for this unique conference and networking opportunity.
The CPC offers the prospect of the coming together of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA’s) global membership of Parliamentarians and Parliamentary staff to address the critical issues facing today’s Parliaments.
