Gusau Zamfara State commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande has accused police in Zone 10, of aiding cattle rustling in the state, even as Civilian JTF has apprehended 700 cattle. Addressing newsmen yesterday, Dankande lamented that the police were allegedly issuing letters of permit to the rustlers for unchecked movement of cattle. According to him, the Civilian JTF has apprehended 700 cows at Lambar Bakura on their way to Sokoto. He explained that the owners presented a permit letter written by  the police in the Zone 10. “It is quite unfortunate that, police in Zone 10 do connive with the bandits in rustling cattle”, he added. He reiterated the determination of the state government to adopt all necessary measures to halt bandits’ activities. Dankande however announced the suspension of two district heads in Maradun and Birnin Magaji local government areas for giving permission for allowing the use of jerry cans in the purchase and sales of petrol.
