Arsenal summer signing Bernd Leno has revealed that he is sure of doing well at the Emirates despite his lack of chances at the early stages.

The 26-year-old shot stopper arrived at North London this summer from Bayer Leverkusen, and has been tipped to become the next big thing between the sticks for the Gunners but the young keeper has not been able to nail a spot due to Unai Emery’s preference to start Petr Cech ahead of Leno.

When asked about his lack of games, Bernd Leno revealed that he was confident of getting into the plans of Emery, despite his reduced role at the moment, he told Sport Bild: ‘I am convinced that my change was the right decision, I’m not crazy. It may take a few weeks or months, but my time here will come.’

Explaining his decision to start Cech ahead of Leno, Unair Emery said:  ‘We want the competition with the goalkeeper and also every player in the squad, the position is the same. The same chances for all the goalkeepers.

‘Petr Cech had a very good pre-season. He has experience of continuing to defend our goal. ‘Leno is [just] starting with us, he is working very well and also played very good in pre-season. He can wait his moment.’
