Nigerian governors resolve to work with President Buhari
Nigeria’s 36 governors for the first time in two and half years met as a body under the embattled Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and resolved to forge a synergy with President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governors from different political parties also resolved that Buhari should surmount the country’s economic challenges to ensure its overall development.
The group, which has a new Chairman, Gov. Abudulalzeez Yari of Zamfara State, also ratified his appointment as the substantive chairman for the renewable period of one year.
Yari said that the forum would seek lasting solutions to the economic challenges facing the country.
The forum congratulated the leadership of the 8th National Assembly and pledged to work with its members to uplift the country.
It sympathised with the people and governments of the states affected by insurgency in the North-East and pledged to aid them in the rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in addition to rebuilding the affected communities.
The governors also planned to hold a retreat on how states can become more viable and identify means of ensuring good governance.
