NFF wont budge on Enyeama apology

Captain of the Nigeria national team, Vincent Enyeama must apologize to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) if his international future is not to be abbreviated.

Enyeama raised concerns about the safety of Kaduna, venue of Nigeria’s opening 2017 Africa Nation’s Cup (Afcon) qualifying game against Chad but his declarations did not go down well with NFF chiefs.

“I’m not satisfied with the choice of Kaduna and you know I’m a very outspoken person. I don’t like the choice of Kaduna based on what is happening in the country but then the government knows exactly what to do make us safe.

“I am concerned because it’s not Kaduna as a city but because of the security thing. I really don’t care where we play as long as there is going to be security and safety of the players and everyone coming to watch the match,” Enyeama told Brila FM a few days to the game against Chad.

The goalkeeper was then issued a query but he reportedly tore the document to shreds to the chagrin of the NFF chiefs.

He was subsequently ordered to appear before the legal/disciplinary committee of the NFF on Tuesday in Abuja to explain his comments and subsequent actions but the Lille OSC man failed to show up.

Chairman of the NFF’s legal/disciplinary committee, Barrister Christopher Green said he was informed that Enyeama had proceeded on holidays but warned that the experienced goalkeeper must apologize to the NFF or risk facing “severe actions”.

“Enyeama was not at the sitting in Abuja on Tuesday because he was on holidays. However his comments about the choice of Kaduna for the game against Chad were quite unbecoming”.

“He must apologize for his actions or face severe actions,” Green told supersport.com.

Enyeama has been capped 101 times by Nigeria at senior level.
