In a bid to sustain technology growth in Nigeria, Audax Solutions is organizing its annual Summer Code School training for primary and secondary students aged 6 – 19 years in Lagos. The training which is in two batches commences from August 3rd – 28th August and 31st August – 25th September in 2015.

Code School is an initiative of Audax Solutions to provide in-depth introduction to computer programming skills based on the fundamentals of web and mobile apps development.

The Audax Code School was launched in 2013 to bridge the opportunity divide between African children and their age mates around the world through high quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Participants will learn how to create animations, build programing blocks with Scratch, as well as HTML (the Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (cascading Style Sheets) which are core technologies for building web pages. The program won the Google Rise Awards in 2014 for promoting computer science education amongst underserved students in Nigeria.

In an interview with Emeka Onyenwe, Chief Executive Officer, Audax Solutions, he said “Our method of teaching inspires creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving which translates visually. We encourage programming classes for students to help them realize they can change and empower the society, access connections to the Google Rise Community and also get certificates from Google when they successfully complete the Scratch Course”.

Onyenwe added that Audax plans to train 100 – 500 students during the one-month Code Camp, raise funds from the public, private organizations and individuals to offer scholarships to public schools, orphanages and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) like the Lindy’ Gems Foundation, Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN), Lagos state Motherless babies Home, The Arrow of God Orphanage and Gbara Community College in Lekki. There is an automatic offer and opportunity for another student to learn for free, every time one student pays for the Code School training, he explained.

Furthermore, Audax code School has over the years, developed partnerships with experienced trainers who are capable of teaching relatively complex concepts and handling groups of school-aged children while providing one-on-one focus and attention. The Code Club also provides fun, creativity and learning through exploring with the understanding that computers are tools you can make do what you want, and not the other way around.
