Kogi Gov-Elect, Bello Denies Involvement in Faleke, Audu Son’s Arrest
Kogi State Governor-elect, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, yesterday denied having any hand in the Saturday’s arrest of the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Mr James Faleke and son of the late APC governorship candidtate, Mohammed Audu by the Department of State Services (DSS).Bello, in a statement issued from his Media Office and signed by Jude Salau maintained that he had at no point sent any petition to the DSS against the duo of Faleke and Audu’s son.“The allegation that I sent a petition to the DSS is an absolute falsehood and nothing can be farther from the truth,” the statement said.
According to the statement the DSS has proven to be a highly professional body under its present leadership and therefore cannot be pushed around by any single individual or group.
“Hon Faleke is a respected member of APC, who has made his own contribution to the success of our party; instigating his arrest cannot be a part of the reconciliatory moves and peace building efforts that we have initiated ahead of our January 27th inauguration,” the statement added. Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has condemned the arrest and detention of Faleke and Mohammed. The governor said even though Faleke and Audu were released very late on Saturday by men of the Department of State Security (DSS), Nigerians should by the incident brace up for a full-blown dictatorship.
