Buhari’s China Visit: Oyegun Blasts Fayose,’What Do You Expect From A Man Who Could Put His Father In His Car Boot’
The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has described Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and other critics of President Muhammudu Burhari’s trips abroad as ignorant people.
He particularly tackled Governor Fayose who last week allegedly wrote an official letter to the Chinese government to abort the proposed $6 billion loan to Nigeria.
Oyegun who spoke to journalists in Benin at the weekend, said: “I hope Fayose did not really do what we are told he did. I don’t even think he is capable of descending into these low depth, but if he did, I feel sorry for him and the people of the state. Nigerians should ask Fayose what was he doing in China. Anyway, we are not bothered, the President is not bothered. A man who could put his father in his car boot, what do you expect from him?”
The APC national chairman pointed out that President Buhari won the presidential election on the basis of his personal credential, coupled with international recognition and respect, adding that, the President is on a rescue mission to quicken the country’s economic recovery.
He however regretted that the country was still being confronted by retrogressive forces of darkness and economic saboteurs who were still hell bent on frustrating the efforts of the present administration aimed at resolving the lingering fuel crisis and revamping the economy.
“Most people do not recognize the very sorry state of the nation’s economy and the fact that the country’s economy was ran aground, and which contributed in no small measure towards the crash of crude oil from $120 per barrel to a miserable $30 to $40 per barrel at the international market.
“On the journey of Mr. President, what makes me sad is that if there is anybody who does not recognize the fact that Nigeria has almost become a paralyzed state, the fact that we have no respect all over the world and the reality that every sector was grounded, but APC won the election based on the personal credibility of President Muhammadu Buahri, based on the respect, credibility and the respect he commands not only in Nigeria but the world over.
“In a situation where the world has become a global village, where a rapid revival depends on the understanding of the rest of the world, the President has taken his prestige and time around the whole world to shop and polish our image which has been badly damaged in order to make it possible for world leaders to want to deal with a new Nigeria and to get the type of resources and the expertise that we needed badly.“We do not have the resources to take down to revive the economy; so what the President is doing is a great inconveniences to his person. Don’t forget that he was a military officer, he trained abroad and he had been to most parts of the world, so, it is not as if he is entertaining joy in spending sleepless nights in one country to another. The countries he has visited are critical to peace in Nigeria or to our economic speedy revival. The long and short of it is that Mr. President is getting the world to respect and know the new Nigeria and to be ready to help to survive the Nigerian economy.
“Everything he has done including the foreign tours is to gather all the support that is necessary to make a dramatic impact on the condition of Nigeria as quickly sa possible,” Oyegun declared.
