With total submission to the wish of Almighty God, I, Abiodun Akinlade, mourn the death of one of our revered leaders in Yewaland, Ogun State and Nigeria at large, General Adetunji Idowu Olurin.

Gen. Olurin was one of the finest and illustrious sons of Yewaland. His death is a big loss to us in Ogun State in general and Yewaland in particular.

However, we take solace in the fact that he came, he saw and he conquered. He dutifully put Yewaland in the world map with the exceptional and professional manner by which he carried out his assignment as ECOMOG Commandant.

Through dedication, steadfastness and commitment, General Olurin served the nation in different capacities both within and outside the shores of the country.

As a retired military head, politician, community leader, his usual contribution to the service of our dear state and the nation will surely be missed.

As ECOMOG commander and Military administrator of repute, General Olurin’s participation in politics was an indication of his desire to contribute his quota to the development of our dear state and Nigeria in general.

I join to commiserate with the Nigerian Army and his immediate family over the death of a legendary soldier and illustrious son who has brought glory and pride through selfless service.

Erin wo, ka to ri Erin odigbo, ka to ri Efon odi odan, ka to ri Tunde Olurin Odi orun.

From God we have all come and to him we shall all return to give accounts of all our deeds. It’s my prayers that Almighty Allah forgive his sins and console his immediate and extended family, associates, and the good people of Yewaland and Ogun State.

Signed:
Rt. Honourable Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade (Baba Adinni of Yewaland)
Federal Commissioner,
Federal Character Commission.
