Amosun Decries Ijebu Igbo Bloody Political Clash
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has decried the recent killings in the Ijebu Igbo area of the state, during a political rally organised by a top member of an opposition political party.
Addressing market women and community leaders, when he visited Ijebu Igbo yesterday, he said “killing each other is a thing of the past in the state and I am going to ensure that we get to the root of this matter.
“This is not acceptable, those behind this act will be made to face the full wrath of the law, as nobody will be allowed to mess the state up,” the governor added.
Noting that such acts are detrimental to progress and development, the governor warned criminals and cult groups to steer clear of the state.
Amosun urged politicians to live in peace and desist from acts of violence, reiterating his administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Illiyasu, noted that the Police made about 35 arrests and recovered several ammunitions in connection with the clash.
Illiyasu added that those involved in the violence will be charged under the appropriate section of the law, stating that the state is not and will never be allowed be a safe haven to criminals.
