APC Is fair to Igbos- Sanwo-Olu
Lukman Amusa
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that the ruling party has been fair to the Igbos in lagos state.
Sanwo-Olu said this during an interview with Television Continental in Lagos on Tuesday
He said the ruling party had been fair to Igbo, adding that the longest-serving member of the state working committee, Joe Igbokwe, is from the South-East while Ben Akabueze remains the longest-serving commissioner in the state.
Sanwo-Olu added, “It is just a perception. When I was in government, the longest-serving commissioner was Mr. Ben Akabueze, who is also the DG of Budget Office. In fact, if you were the Commissioner for Budget and Planning as of that time, you were like the de facto deputy governor because every commissioner comes to you.
Also, the longest-serving member of the APC exco is Mr, Joe Igbokwe who has been there for 15 years. So, when you give an Igbo man the position of spokesman, what else can we talk about? These are just sentiments.
Samwo-Olu also said he doesn’t understand the ‘Free Lagos’ mantra of Jimi Agbaje, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said to the best of his knowledge, Lagosians’ movement were not hindered in any way.
Sanwo-Olu added, “Are you in shackles or bondage? In the 21st century, he is referring to freedom. Freedom from what? That you cannot move freely from here to your house? That you cannot pick your kids from school? Or you cannot buy things in the market? Why are we trivialising our lives as if we are living in some 16th-century regime?”
