APC Suspends Okorocha For Anti-Party Activities
The Imo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has with immediate effect, suspended Governor Rochas Okorocha from the party.
The party took the decision yesterday, accusing Okorocha of gross anti-party activities.
According to the party in Imo state, the Governor’s suspension was handed down after a report by the disciplinary committee set up to investigate allegations of gross anti-party activities against him.
It also called on the national leadership of the party to support their decision in achieving the total expulsion of Gov. Okorocha from APC.
Imo APC maintained its action was in line with Article 21 (B) I-VI of the APC constitution (October, 2014 as amended).
Prince M.O. Nlemigbo, Chairman of the Imo State APC Caretaker Committee, listed the anti party activities against the governor to include the sponsorship of a rival political party, Action Alliance (AA) in the state and its governorship candidate, Prince Uche Nwosu; open denunciation of APC and its governorship candidate, Senator Hope Uzodimma and open canvassing of votes for AA and its governorship, national and state assemblies’ candidates.
“To save the party from the machinations of governor Okorocha, our state caretaker committee highly recommends the expulsion of the governor from the APC so that he can fully move to his party, the AA.”
However, when contacted, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, dismissed the governor’s purported suspension, noting that the only APC in the state is the one led by Mr. Daniel Nwafor.
“There is no other APC in Imo, except the one Daniel Nwafor is the chairman and Rochas Okorocha is the leader. Any other APC in Imo is a counterfeit or association of 419 or league of fraudsters.”
Meanwhile, premier newspaper also earlier reported that the All Progressives Congress, (APC), is reportedly perfecting plans to suspend Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his counterpart in Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun from the party.
The duo are been accused of anti-party activities in sponsoring other governorship candidates different from APC candidates in their respective states.
