FCT students win national competition, Lagos comes 2nd
Representatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have won the 2015 Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Annual Science Quiz competition.
Representatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have won the 2015 Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Annual Science Quiz competition.
With a total of one hundred and thirty points, the FCT students beat Lagos and Katsina representatives to 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Congratulating the winners, the NNPC Group Managing Director, Joseph Dawha, the organization will continue to encourage the development of science and technology by stimulating the interest of the youths in the science field which has limitless opportunities.
Dawha also stated that the reward for the winners had been increased by 150%.
“Over the years, we have run a scholarship scheme whereby each member of the various states at the national finals, received the sum of N100, 000 each year as bursary throughout their study,” Dawha said.
“Permit me to announce that since the beginning of this year, their bursary has increased to N250, 000. We believe such a token has helped in the development of science and technology in this country.”
Members of the winning team each got 4-year scholarships to study in any Nigerian University.
The subjects included in the quiz were Mathematic, physics, Chemistry, Biology as well as English Language.
