Flying Eagles set for “a few changes” ahead of North Korea tie

Ahead of their second group game against North Korea on Thursday morning, sources have informed news24 Nigeria that there will be ‘a few changes’ to the Flying Eagles team, following their 2-4 loss to Brazil in the first game.

According to news24 Nigeria sources, there won’t be a wholesale change to the team, but there ‘definitely’ would be changes both in personnel, and tactics.

The Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba started the game against Brazil with what seemed like a 4-2-1-3 formation – a clear departure from his previously favored 4-3-3 formation – which meant the team had a lot of attacking force, but very little defensive solidity.

And checks on the team has revealed that Manu Garba may be preparing to return to a 4-3-3 formation, which means some changes to the personnel that started in the loss to Brazil.

“The coach has done a lot of work on the 4-3-3 recently, and it does seem that’s how we’ll play against the Koreans,” a source informed news24 Nigeria.

“We’re not sure what the starting team will look like but I can assure you there will be a few changes. Not a wholesale change, but there definitely will be changes to the team that started against Brazil,” the source said.

It is believed that the trio of Zaharadeen Bello, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Taiwo Awoniyi will be the casualties.
