Edema Fuludu, an ex-international, has commended Gernot Rohr’s decision to monitor home-based players and include those found worthy in the Super Eagles, saying it would give the players a morale lift and a sense of belonging.

The former Julius Berger FC of Lagos star gave the commendation in an interview with the premier newspaper  today  in Lagos.

Super Eagles’ Manager Rohr has been criticised severally for neglecting the Nigeria Professional Football League players in the past, but the Franco-German coach is on the lookout for talented players.

“I believe these players will not disappoint, you know I have always been an advocate for this; now is the time to separate the boys from the men.

“There is so much to fight for, the players will further push themselves mentally and physically, there is a lot at stake at the moment and I believe the coach will be impressed.

“Eventually I hope the coach will be able to decipher the real talents from the flukes because they will naturally want to impress, what we need in the Super Eagles are players with tenacity,’’ he said.

Fuludu, a member of the 1994 AFCON Cup winning squad, told NAN that the NPFL would be more competitive because of what’s at stake now.

“The league will improve honestly, clubs will now want to brag based on the number of players that have made Rohr’s selection.

“Clubs that don’t have will further push their players, it will be highly competitive and I believe the league will be better for it,” the former Warri Wolves FC of Delta said.

Premier reports that with the qualification of the 2019 AFCON secured, Rohr wants to experiment with youngsters against Seychelles.
