GSS lPEE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION URGES KWARA GOV. TO INTERVENE IN ALMA MATA …give scholarships, distribute uniforms, books to students

The Government Secondary School, Ipee Old Students Association
(GSSIOSA) has called on the Kwara State Government to come to the aid of their alma mata.

Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the award of scholarships, distribution of school uniforms, notebooks and provision of text books by the old students, the interim President, Otunba Segun Atolagbe urged the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to help in resuscitating the infrastructure of the school as well as posting of teachers in core subjects to their alma mata.

He said, “as products of this great school,
over the last 15 years, we have continued to play our part in order to uplift the dilapidated structures and also bring back the glory of the school.

“This our latest gesture is another concerted effort by various sets to sustain the commitment to our alma mata as we are aware government cannot do it alone.

“This school used to be the pride of Ipee, Oyun Local Government and Kwara State at large, hence l will like to appeal to the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to help in renovating the decrepit structures in the school.”

Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Yemisi Akinyemi Fashina, who represented the Chairman, Education Committee, charged the students to be committed to their studies, plan for their future and to make the best use of the items provided to them by the old students.
She said, “ln the past, we have renovated classrooms, provided boreholes and other facilities. By the grace of God, we will continue to do our bit in making the school conducive for you. However, we want you to tell your friends this good news and to encourage others to join you by churning out excellent results and good conduct.”
Mrs Fashina however charged the parents and guardians to support the aspirations of their wards.

In their separate remarks, the President of Ipee Progressive Union (IPU), Engr. Moshood Anifowoshe and the Senior Secondary School Principal, Mrs Alice Dada thanked the old students even as they charged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the kind gesture with impressive grades and outstanding conduct.
The event which was held at the school premises was attended by parents, guardians and members of the interim National Executives of the GSSIOSA.
