HON. KASUNMU CONGRATULATES NEW LAGOS SPEAKER, RT. HON. MOJISOLA MERANDA. ….Pledges Loyalty, Support

The ranking Lawmaker representating Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, fondly called ARK, has warmly congratulated the newly appointment Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Princess Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.

Meranda emerged as the new Speaker of the House yesterday 13th January 2024 after the dramatic impeachment of the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa over allegations boredeing on high-handedness, gross misconduct, financial malpractices among others.

Meranda’s ascension to Speakership places her as the First Female Assembly Speaker in the history of Lagos State and also the 10th Speaker of the House.

In a congratulatory message signed by Hon. Kasunmu, the legislator rejoiced with the new Speaker, describing her appointment as “historic and divinely-ordained. He also commended the Speaker’s antecedents as a “dependable, dedicated and diligent parliamentarian”.

Hon. Kasunmu, who was the Deputy Majority Leader under the immediate past Speaker, also pledged 100% loyalty and support for the new Speaker and the institution, while wishing her maximum success in her new role.

This is to congratulate you heartily on your historic emergence as the new Speaker of the 10th Assembly of Lagos State House of Assembly, earlier today.

Since 2015 in the 8th Assembly, when we were neighbours on the 4th floor, you have proven to be a dependable, dedicated and diligent parliamentarian.

Your devotion, hard work, and commitment to both constituency and legislative matters have remained outstanding.

As you step into this new and divinely-ordained role, I rejoice with and celebrate you warmly. I also seize this opportunity to assure you of my 100% support, loyalty and commitment to your quest to move the Lagos State House of Assembly forward as an institution.

I have no doubt that your vision, courage, determination, and tested capacity will lead us to greater heights collectively and individually.

Contrary to widespread insinuations on social media that, Hon. Kasunmu was among the seven (7) lawmakers who voted against the impeachment of the former Speaker, he was actually among the Thirty-three (33) lawmakers who signed the impeachment documents of the former Speaker, a demonstration of his loyalty to the Institution and system above personal friendship.

It would be recalled that Hon. Kasunmu and the new Speaker were neighbours on the 4th floor of Honourable members wing of the Assembly complex from 2015 to 2019 when they both started their legislative careers as fresh lawmakers in the 8th Assembly. Apart from this, they both share a long-standing sister-brother family bond and relationship that transcends politics.
