HON. KASUNMU REAPPOINTED AS LAGOS ASSEMBLY’S DEPUTY MAJORITY LEADER …Expresses Appreciation to Speaker, Colleagues and Constituents

Ealier today (Fri 17th January, 2025), the Lawmaker representating Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu was reappointed as the Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Assembly, as the new leadership of the House made key Principal Officers appointment.

Popularly nicknamed ARK, Hon. Kasunmu has been the Deputy Majority Leader of the House since the inception of the 10th Assembly in June 2023.
However, when the esthehile Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa was removed in a major impeachment action on Monday 13th January, all hitherto existing Principal Offices and standing committees were dissolved.

Today, however, in the first decision-making sitting of the house, presided over by Madam Speaker, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu was unanimously returned as the Deputy Majority Leader.

This is coming against the backdrop of various rumours and tales of Hon. Kasunmu being among some seven loyalists who allegedly did not vote for the impeachment of the former Speaker, a claim later found to be untrue.

Other Principal Officers appointed today include: Hon. Temitope Adewale ( Majority Leader); Hon. David Setonji ( Chief Whip); Hon. Ganiyu Sanni Okanlawon ( Deputy Whip).

Speaking shortly after his re-appointment, the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, thanked the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Princess Mojisola Lasbat Meranda for her support and demonstration of sterling leadership qualities. He also expressed appreciation to his colleagues in the 10th Assembly as well as the leaders and members of his Constituency in Ikeja 2 for their unflinching support.

Speaking further, he promised to reciprocate with a greater commitment to legislative excellence and a more robust Constituency engagement and dividends of democracy.

The house adjourned sitting to next Tuesday.
