HON. KASUNMU WINS DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD

In recognition of his qualitative representation and exemplary performance as a legislator, the Deputy Majority Leader of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu(ARK) has been honoured with the Distinguished Public Service Award 2024.

The award ceremony, which took place earlier today, Wednesday, 30th October 2024, at Providence Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, was organized by the Nigeria Grassroots Governance Summit and Awards (NIGGSA).

According to the organizers, the award was put in place among many things; “to promote good Governance and accountability at the grassroots level, to recognize exemplary performances by public office holders in order to inspire others and to adopt best practices and foster partnerships that support grassroots development” a statement on their website revealed.

Speaking at the event today, NIGGSA officials said, Hon.(Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu was nominated for the award as a result of his brilliant performance as a Principal Officer of the Lagos State House of Assembly and for his various grassroots-related interventions such as provision of Electricity transformer, Educational support programs like Free JAMB and GCE, Road construction facilitation and many others.

Receiving the award amidst standing ovations from the audience, Hon. Kasunmu, thanked the organizers for the honour, stating that, though he was not serving the people because of awards, he, however, appreciated the gesture, saying that the award would spur him to provide more inclusive representation and bring more dividends of democracy to the people of Ikeja Constituency 2 and Lagos State.
The articulate legislator, also admonished the organizers to always endeavour to lay emphasis on the roles of legislators vis-a-vis grassroots politics and Governance and the expectations of the people.

Apart from Hon. Kasunmu, other notable personalities also received various categories of awards at the event.

Popularly called ARK, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu, is the lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly since 2015. Currently, in his third term, Hon. Kasunmu has been a vibrant and zestful parliamentarian in the Lagos State House of Assembly, where he serves as the Deputy Majority Leader of the 10th Assembly.
