How Iyalode Adunni Bankole died on daughter’s wedding day

Top society lady and one of the most celebrated Lagos women, Iyalode Omotayo Adunni Bankole has been reported dead after a battle with a heart related ailment that was complicated with diabetes. The Iyalode Gbagura died on Saturday 3rd January 2015 which incidentally is the same day her second daughter Mopelola was getting married.

The wife of Ogun State popular politician, Chief Alani Bankole, and step mother of a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, reportedly died at her mother’s residence in Maryland, Lagos.
Bankole was said to have been sick for over a month before death came calling.
And so complicated was the ailment that she could not be part of the preparation of her daughter’s wedding.
Indeed, she was said to have been rushed to the hospital last week where she was in coma for five days. Bankole was said to have collapsed again on Saturday morning and all efforts to revive her proved unsuccessful.

No sooner had the news of her death filtered out than the society was thrown into confusion with several condolence messages flooding the social media.
Despite all these, the family however kept the bad news under wrap so as not to disrupt the wedding ceremony. The event was held with Hon Dimeji Bankole and Chief Alani in attendance.
Adunni, 55, is survived by four kids and a grandson.
