How Yabatech Final Year Student Died In Our Hospital….FMC
The Management of Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Meta, Lagos said Charity Dazan, a student of the Yaba College of Technology, was brought to the hospital at 1.10am and died at 1.20am.
This was contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria by the Head of the hospital’s Clinical Services, Dr. Olubukola Aseru, in Lagos on Thursday.
The statement said the patient arrived in poor condition on Wednesday with a nurse from the Yaba College of Technology.According to the statement, the patient, who was very weak, complained of general body weakness and pain, which she said started on the afternoon of February 2.Dazan was referred from the medical centre of the institution, the statement said.
It said she was very pale, cold and clammy, anxious and gasping.
It added: “We commenced emergency care immediately, vital signs done, temperature was 35.5°C.“The patient was feeble, respiration gasping, block pressure was undetectable, oxygen therapy was commenced immediately, and blood sample collected, for blood transfusion.
“Normal Saline 0.9per cent,500mls was set up to run fast, foot of the bed elevated, intravenous hydrocortisone, 100mg given, cardiac massage done, all resuscitative measures carried out proved abortive.“The patient stopped breathing at 1:20am (within ten minutes on arrival).The corpse was taken back by the same ambulance that brought her to the hospital.”
he statement said it was unfortunate that the misinformation about sequence of events had caused extra pain to relatives and friends of the lady.
