I Sold Stolen Motorcycles To Public Armed Robbery – Suspect
Damilare Adegbayi a suspected army robbery has confessed to the Police that he has been robbing and terrorising people, especially motorcyclists in the Lagos metropolis, saying he had sold over one hundred and fifty motorcycles to unsuspecting members of the public in and around Lagos State
The suspect who confessed to the crime after he was nabbed by a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) , Lagos State Police Command said apart from robbing unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables he also specialized in stealing motorcycles around Agege, Dopemu and other parts of Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP, Edgal Imohimi, who briefed journalist to confirmed his arrest said on January26, 2019 at about 0100hrs, information was received from members of the public, that some armed robbers were having a field day along Adewumi Adebisi Street, Agege Lagos, robbing unsuspecting victims of their valuables.
He said, “Based on the information the combined team of operatives from Dopemu Police Station and SARS Ikeja swiftly mobilized to the scene.
“On sighting the operatives, the robbers ran in different directions to avoid being arrested; but they were chased, leading to the arrest of one Damilare Adegbayi and the recovery of a cut-to-size locally made single barrel gun with four ( un-expended cartridges) from him.
“On closer examination of the robbery scene, two lifeless bodies were found on the ground.
‘’While on Further enquiry, investigation revealed that they were stabbed to death and the victims were later identified as Alayiwa, surname unknown, a security personnel attached to the street and one Ibrahim Akinbumi, a resident of Adewumi Adebisi Street, Agege Lagos.
Edgal said that, the suspects later led the operatives to arrest four other members of the gang who are identified as Ojesola Osundairo; Basiru Suleiman; Rasak Osunmade; and Haruna Ibrahim from whom two additional cut to size locally made guns with six live cartridges were recovered.
The CP said the suspects will be charge to court at end of investigation is being concluded.
