‘I WONT CONTEST FOR ANY POLITICAL OFFICE IN THE FUTURE’…..Gov Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said he was no longer interested in contesting for any political office in the future.

Ajimobi said this on Tuesday while addressing some Muslim stakeholders in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.Ajimobi said: “I am not interested in running as Vice President or for any other post.“The governor I have always wanted to be is what I am now.“My prayer to God was that I want to be the first governor to be re-elected into office and God has answered my prayers.”

Ajimobi thanked the people of the state for their contributions in ensuring he became governor.“I am also and will always be grateful to the people of the state, especially the people of Oke-Ogun area, for making my political ambition a reality,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that Ajimobi once represented Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy as a one-term senator.He contested and lost the 2007 governorship election in the state as candidate of the All Nigeria People’s Party.

Thereafter, he re-contested and won the April 2011 governorship poll as candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Ajimobi’s victory in the 2015 election made him the first incumbent to be re-elected for a second term in Oyo State
