JAKANDE WAS A GREAT MENTOR OF THE YOUTH*….Hon. Kasunmu Mourns ex-Lagos Governor
The first Executive Governor of Lagos, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, who passed on ealier today has been described as a great mentor of the youth and a visionary leader. This assertion was made by the lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Richard while speaking today on the floor of the House during a special session held to mourn the passage of the great politician.
Speaking further during the session, which was held in Yoruba, Hon. Kasunmu commended the late Governor of Lagos for his uncomon vision, courage and ground-breaking infrastructural development in the Lagos state.
According to Hon. Kasunmu, “Baba was a man filled with uncomon wisdom, he was also an outstanding role model who scored very high in the mentorship of the younger generations. I know these first hand because he was very close to my family, particularly my maternal grandmother, the late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji”.
Earlier in the day, Hon. Kasunmu (also known as ARK) has described the late Jakande as a “legendary statesman”.
According to the statement posted on Hon. Kasunmu’s social media pages, the lawmaker siad “Lagos will forever be grateful for your selflessness, sacrifices, commitment to the common good and visionary leadership. We will surely miss you”.
He rounded up by praying for the deceased and his immediate family as well as Lagos State in general.
Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, popularly called LKJ or Baba Kekere, was the first Executive Governor of Lagos state. He was also a former Minister under the military junta of late Gen. Abacha. He passed on on Thursday 11th February at the age of 91. May his soul rest in peace.
