The Erunwen community in Ikorodu is brimming with excitement as preparations are underway for the official commissioning of the Erunwen Road, facilitated by Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson (MHR), on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

The road, one of the longest ever constructed in the constituency, marks another milestone in Rep. Benson’s commitment to infrastructural transformation in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Hon. Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, has consistently championed people-centric development initiatives that have reshaped the socio-economic landscape of Ikorodu.

Under his tenure, multiple road construction and rehabilitation projects have been successfully executed, with each project featuring state-of-the-art drainage systems, quality asphalting, and solar-powered streetlights that illuminate the community’s pathways.

Erunwen, a thriving community home to thousands of residents and coordinated by the Joint Erunwen Community Development Forum (JECDF) led by Chairman Mr. Olaniyi Maxwell Olowoshoke, has long suffered from the effects of dilapidated roads.

Despite being adjacent to the iconic Obafemi Awolowo Road, constructed during the administration of former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Erunwen Road had remained neglected for decades. Residents’ self-help initiatives, including significant repairs during the COVID-19 lockdown, provided temporary relief but fell short of a permanent solution.

The intervention by Rep. Babajimi Benson has transformed Erunwen Road into a fully paved and well-lit corridor, fostering increased commercial and social activities in the community.

The project has significantly enhanced property values and spurred new developments, bringing relief and pride to residents who had endured years of hardship.

The commissioning ceremony is expected to draw notable personalities, including traditional rulers, political leaders, and community stakeholders.

Erunwen’s residents have expressed their profound gratitude to Rep. Benson, with some even endorsing him as a future gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State, citing his unwavering dedication to the welfare of Ikorodu’s people.

The event, scheduled for January 18, 2025, at the Erunwen Road entrance, promises to be a grand celebration of progress and unity.

The JECDF, in collaboration with over 17 Community Development Associations (CDAs), has extended an open invitation to well-wishers and supporters to join the historic occasion.

Rep. Babajimi Benson’s commitment to sustainable development continues to endear him to his constituents, further cementing his legacy as a transformational leader in Ikorodu.
