Kwara To Prosecutes Culprits Of Multiple Salaries….Gov Ahmed
The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, has vowed to prosecute any civil servant found collecting multiple salaries in the state at the end of the ongoing Bank Verification Number alignment exercise.
Governor Ahmed gave the warning in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He said: “It was criminal and ungodly for anyone to be collecting multiple salaries from the same source, while some of our brothers and sisters in parastatals and institutions are barely able to collect their salaries on time.
“We will check how it is possible for multiple names to enter into one BVN.
“We must check what happened because if we don’t know what happened, we would not be able to check it in future.”
The Governor assured Kwarans that the ongoing exercise would lead to the emergence of a robust properly designed Kwara State database for the workers of the State, adding that the scheme would also give the management information of entry into and exit from the service and other issues pertaining to the service.
On the issue of Joint Allocation Account Committee for the local governments in the state, Ahmed stated that it was a constitutional provision that only the National Assembly could repeal or amend as it may be deemed fit and proper.
He explained that what the State House of Assembly did was to put in place a law which ensured that common platforms such as primary school teachers, local government service commission and traditional rulers are jointly funded.
Ahmed said the newly introduced Kwara State Internally Revenue Service was designed to explore untapped areas in the state to boost internally generated revenue in order to ease funding challenges the state and local governments areas.
