Mikel Must Show Good Example For The Team….Kalu
The former Governor of Abia State and distinguished business magnate, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has advised Nigeria’s midfielder, John Obi Mikel, to take his new position as the captain of the Super Eagles to bring reconciliation and unity among the team members.
Kalu, who spoke through the Orji Uzor Kalu Media Centre, Abuja, in a statement issued and signed by Rubby Obinna, said kindness and reconciliation are worth having in the team and by extension among the members of the authorities superintending sports affairs in the country.
The statement quoted Kalu as having said: “I’ve known that the church is not a theological classroom. So, it is applicable that the Super Eagles should not be a place for nursing and harbouring acrimony. I’m urging Captain John Obi Mikel to make sure that the team under his watch is a place where remorse, reconciliation, forgiveness and sanctification are supreme.”
Speaking in the spirit of the Easter celebration, Kalu implored all to learn to love others.
“We need to find our ways positively together,” he said, adding: “But in all, we must first tell each other the truth in order to enable reconciliation.”
Kalu added that he believes that reconciliation does not necessarily require religious bodies and others, but only a change in attitude.
He enthused that the Super Eagles needed desperate prayer and teamwork to attain any heights of its desire.
Kalu concluded that what Mikel needed to achieve as the captain of the Super Eagles was appetite for being principle.
Kalu however called on Nigerians in the Diaspora and at home to give him the maximum support he needed to realise the team that would be the envy of countries across the world
