As the Nigerian Professional Football League resumes this weekend, highlighted below are some of the shinning lights that will surely shown like million stars.

Christian Pyagbara (Enyimba): The former U20 international got his reward for an outstanding season with relegated Sharks of Port Harcourt and was rewarded with a switch to the People’s Elephants. It is left to be seen if he will be able to replicate the feat he had with the Blue Angels especially in the last two seasons. He needs to start scoring to fix the current lack of goals in the Caf Champions League hopeful.

Ajani Ibrahim (3SC): The pint size forward has settled down in Ibadan after he left Sharks last season and he will be called upon to get the goals needed to revitalize 3SC and turn them to a more competitive side than their current mediocre middle benching. He was very close to nicking the highest scorer’s award in 2012 but Jude Aneke then of Kaduna United beat him to it. This could be Ajani’s season

Ubong Ekpai (Akwa United): After several unsuccessful spells to take his trade abroad, Ubong has relaxed to make a name on the home front. After he spent two seasons with Kano Pillars he returned to Akwa United, his home team and has started rewarding the Promise Keepers’ faith with goals like his match winner in Congo in the first leg of the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round tie with Vita Club Mokanda. If he is consistent, the sky will be the starting point for Ekpai.

Ocheme Edoh (Enugu Rangers): He had a breakaway season last term with Giwa FC and attracted a lot of offers before he decided to pick the Flying Antelopes. He will have a fantastic season if the owner of Giwa FC, Ambassador Chris Giwa will sanction his sale. He scored over 10 goals in the league last season and is expected to supply the goals for the Flying Antelopes to end their long wait for a title.

Emeka Ogbugh (Heartland): Ogbugh is fast becoming the fans’ favourite in Owerri and some of his crucial goals helped the Naze Millionaires to finish the season in seventh spot with 56 points from 38 games. He is still evolving and if he stays injury free for most of the season, he could be the golden boy in the Owerri side even; better than Bright Ejike if he keeps his head low.

Gambo Mohammed (Kano Pillars): The Pillars hitman had it rough last season as he was injured for most part of the campaign as a result of the armed robbery attack on the team bus on their way to Owerri. He has come back with a bang and will prosecute this season’s campaign with a clean bill of health. Gambo’s form has never been in doubt and this coming season may be his time.
