Nigeria Must Starts Tokyo 2020 Olympics Preparation Now……Ojez Boss, Odobeatu

The Chairman of O’jez Entertainment & Restaurants, Chief Joseph Odobeatu has called for early preparation for our athletes ahead of the next Olympics, Tokyo 2020. Odobeatu who is equally a Sport enthusiasts and Executive member of Swimming Federation of Nigeria made this call after the not too impressive showing of Nigeria at the just concluded Rio Olympics in Brazil.

In his word “ there is need to starts the preparation for the next Olympics now, this is the biggest competition in the whole world and it comes up every other four years, so every serious countries begins the preparations for the next edition immediately. The feat recorded by Haruna Quadri in the Table Tennis quarter Final was a great one, it was a result of hard work he puts in over the years. Now we are proud of him even though he didn’t win any medal but he his now the best in Africa and among the world best”.

Odobeatu call on the government to encourage foreign companies who are making money in Nigeria to also support sport development by sponsoring some sporting activities. “ The government must engage many of these foreign companies especially the Chinese companies because they are making lots of money here, so they should be able to also support our course but the government should create enabling environment for them”

He speaks on the effort they are making to develop Swimming better in the country. “The Sport Minister, Solomon Dalung is trying, he has mandated us to renovate the Swimming Pool inside the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos for the benefits of our athletes. Am happy to tell you it is almost completed now, the Swimming Pool will be hosting regular competition which will in turn develop our swimmers more and they will be able to win cash prizes to take care of their self and family which is very important”.

He also urged the government to recognize organizations and individuals who supports sports development with National honors because through their sponsorship they keep the athletes busy thereby reducing unemployment.

 

The shrewd businessman seized the opportunity to throw more light on why the O’jez Entertainment now organize Soccer-Fan Nite-Out every month. “ It is part of our own contribution to honor any sport personalities that has contributed to sport development. Not only sport men and women but also administrators ,journalists, sport enthusiasts among others. It will encourage others to do more. The idea has received tremendous support from fans who always throng the Stadium to witness the event every month.”
