Nigerians blast Fashola, FG over statement on power supply
Lukman Amusa
Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and the Federal Government have been bashed by Nigerians on social media, over his recent statement on power supply in the country.
Fashola at the Nextier Power Dialogue on Wednesday night in Abuja, told his listeners that there were problems in the power sector, but reminded them that it was not the Federal Government’s problem if citizens in the country do not have electricity, especially since the sector had been privatised.
He said, “There are problems without a doubt and we must deal with them. But let me remind you, all of the assets that the Ministry of Power used to control for power have been sold by the last administration before I came. And so if you don’t have power, it is not the government’s problem. Let us be honest.”
His statement didn’t sit well with Nigerians.

If Fashola made such a statement, then this govt lacks respect for the citizens & are just a merry band of thieves. Discos were privatized but, the Gencos is still runned by the FG.. Loans were issued by govt to boost power, so the question is why did they? incompetent minister.
Fashola denies saying power can be fixed in six months
After sudden grey hairs for power issues, what do you expect?
@OfficialAPCNg is full of verbal promises without credible efforts to fulfill them.

But you promised steady power supply during your campaigns. The same Fashola said they did not promise change in 4 years. That is why PMB must debate to tell Nigerians directly what he will do on #NextLevel. No debate, No vote.
Nigerians please have sense…

According to Fashola (that initially blamed PDP for this and claimed he’d do better immediately), he’s only a regulator and it’s not the regulator’s job to improve business environment to ensure productivity . These are your heroes

Fashola is the most clueless minister Nigeria has ever appoint.. I remember clearly 2014 when you were running your mouth about the failure of past govt on electricity..what happen now ..empty vessel makes the loudest noise.. 9ja vote wisely this time pic.twitter.com/9vFi8X7Xkp
So when we don’t have light, it is not the government’s fault or even business according to Fashola.
But when there is improvement in the situation, government is quick to claim credit for it & chalk it down as one of their successes.
Which is it? Because it can’t be both.
