Oando Boss, Wale Tinubu Receives Award As Best Investor of the Year

Again, the business wizardry of Jubril Adewale Tinubu, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Oando Plc, a leading oil and gas firm, was recognized during the annual awards ceremony organized by Daily Telegraph Publishing Company Limited, publishers of New Telegraph newspapers, at Oriental Hotels, Lagos on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Though the event has come and gone, the memories of that beautiful evening will be etched in the minds of Tinubu, who was honored with the New Telegraph Investor/Transaction of the Year 2024 award.
When his name was mentioned, the hall literally rose and erupted in joy, a development that pointed to the fact that he was deserving of the prestigious award.
Tinubu, according to the organizers, was adjudged the winner for leading his team in the successful acquisition of Agip Oil Company for $783 million in August 2024.
Tinubu, known for striking when the iron is hottest, has a knack for spotting opportunities where others can’t.
In the past 30 years, he has successfully positioned Oando Plc as the oil and gas company to beat.
Other awardees include Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State (Governor of the Year 2024); Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State (Governor of the Year in Projects); Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State (Governor of the Year in Economy); Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State; Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke; Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji; Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Mele Kyari, who won the newspaper’s prestigious Man of the Year 2024 award; and Barrister Festus Keyamo, SAN, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, who won the Minister of the Year 2024 in Transformative Leadership.
