OGUN ASSEMBLY APPROVES COMMISSIONERS AND SPECIAL ADVISERS LIST BY GOV AMOSUN
The Ogun State House of Assembly on Thursday approved the appointment of 18 Commissioner nominees and 20 Special Advisers sent to it by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
The approval came after the Deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, had presented the report of the committee of the Whole House on the screening of the nominees at the plenary in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Oluomo said the committee scrutinised the curriculum vitae of the nominees thoroughly and found them worthy to occupy the exalted position as members of the State Executive Council.
He said: “It is therefore recommended that the request of the governor for confirmation of the nominees for the post of Commissioners and approval of 20 Special Advisers be consented to by this honourable House.
“The commissioner nominees scrutinised are Messers Rotimi Durojaye, Ademola Adeife, Jide Ojuko, Sunday Bamiwola, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, Bolaji Oyeleye, Leke Adewolu, Afolabi Afuwape, Gbenga Ademosun, Kolawole Lawal, Segun Abiodun and Olumide Ayeni.
“Others are Bimbo Ashiru, Olamilekan Adegbite, Muyiwa Oladipo, Mrs. Adenike Osoba, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and Mrs. Yewande Amusan.”
Adeyinka Mafe, the Majority Leader, moved the motion for the adoption of the report of the committee, which was seconded by Razak Oduntan.
Mafe also moved the motion for the confirmation of the nominees after the adoption of the report of the House and the approval of the 20 Special Advisers.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Durojaye, a former Editor of Daily Independent, was among the commissioner nominees.
NAN recalls that Amosun had on September 30 sent the names of the nominees to the Assembly.
