Olowu of Kuta To Receive ‘Man of The Year’ Award in Abuja Nov 12
His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III), the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Osun State, has been named ‘Man of The Year’ by an upscale news magazine, Our Nigeria.
According to the organizers of the prestigious awards, Oba Makama is being recognized for his positive impact in the society, his exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment to nation-building, philanthropy and his transformative impact on his community and beyond.
The honour will be presented to the revered monarch and other eminent personalities on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, at the International Conference Centre, Abuja. The organizers acknowledged Oba Makama’s significant position of influence and his dedication towards the country’s development.
As the Permanent Chairman of the Supreme Royal Council of all Owu Obas and Chiefs in Yoruba land, Oba Oyelude Makama is not only a custodian of tradition and culture but also a highly detribalized Nigerian and a respected pro-establishment nationalist. His remarkable attributes include a strong sense of integrity, an ability to adapt and integrate ideas effectively for solving business and communal problems.
In May, this year, Oba Makama, was conferred with the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) by former President Muhammadu Buhari, in recognition of his unflinching support for the military and his regular fatherly appeal to Nigerians to give support to the Nigerian Army. Also, the rapid transformation of Kuta kingdom under his care, his sense of justice and fairness, have continued to earn him respect and honours from far and wide, including receiving a laurel from the Nigerian Union of Journalist, Osun State of which he is made ‘Life Patron’.
