OLUMIDE WOLE-MADARIOLA GIANTS STRIDES IN NIGERIA SHOOTING SPORT

Not a few will attributes the success achieved today in Nigeria Shooting Sport to the undiluted interest of Ace Security expert and current President of Nigeria Shooting Federation,  (NSF) Olumide Wole-Madariola. His sponsorship of the sport could be traced back to 2 decades even though the likes of Lt. Gen Jeremiah Useni also played big role for the sport in Nigeria.

For those who are not in the know, (NSF) is a Nigeria Government body for Rifle, Pistol and shortgun sport development. The body reports to the National Sport Commission in Nigeria (NSC) and it is affiliated to,International Shorting Sport Federation ,African  Shorting Federation and Nigeria Olympic Committee.   His solely sponsored Wole Madariola National Shooting Champion which has been on for decades has no doubt raised so many national players for the country that has won laurels for the country most of recent at the Africa Shooting Championship, Cairo 2014. He has also co-sponsored several Shooting Competition with late Business Mogul, Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo and Mobolaji Johnson. Among honors. Olumide stands tall in Shooting Sport development in Nigeria, his many influence as President of NSF has greatly improve the lots of the Sport in Nigeria. Among some his contribution are :  Sponsor 1st Lagos State Inter Club Championship-2012,Sponsor 2nd  Lagos State Inter Club Shooting Championship-2013,Sponsor late Major Ojo (National Trials) Posthumous Championship-2014.Founder: Nigeria’s First & only Shooting club –Fort Madariola Shooting Club,Co-sponsor- General Mobolaji Johnson Rtd (Lagos Open) Shooting championship- 2002,Sponsor- Annual Wole Madariola National (Lagos Open Shooting Championship 2003 ,Co-sponsor Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo Shooting championship-2003 just to mention few. Meanwhile, as part of its preparations for next year’s Olympic Games in Rio, the Nigeria Shooting Federation (NSF) has fully renovated its shooting range at the Abuja National Stadium and also lined up international competitions between September and December this year to get its athletes in top shape.

 NSF President, Wole Madariola-Olumide, said, “in the Federation’s bid to develop and encourage target shooting in Nigeria, the NSF has decided that the national shooting range at the National Stadium Abuja will be open to qualified and approved members of the public, who are interested in target shooting.”

The statement said the NSF President has put in place a temporary make-shift 10 metre range for use and “there is also a 25-metre and 50-metre range available for use. “The events are 10-metre with the usage of .177 calibre, which is of low caliber, 25-metre and 50-metre, which is high callibre of .22 events all for male and female.

“The range will be opened three days in a week- Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with qualified trainers available who will be in attendance to assist each intending shooters.”

The NSF also disclosed that interested persons ready for registration and the screening process would be welcome for access into the shooting range.

Madariola-Olumide also confirmed the readiness of the Federation to participate and compete in three important International tournaments this year all in preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
