A group of online media practitioners under the umbrella of Professional Online Media Executives of Nigeria (POMEN) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing the Publisher of WesternPost Newspaper, Mr Tunde Rahman as Senior Special Assistant on Media.

The professional association in a statement issued on Saturday by its National Chairman, Mr Kunle Rasheed and National Secretary, Mr Tunde Ogunmola, said that it was a good thing that the President appointed a journalist who has clear understanding of the operations of both traditional and online media, adding that it was confident that Rahman would deliver on his assigned duties.

They stated that Rahman had always exhibited his intellectual and image projecting prowess since when he had been working with Tinubu as media adviser, assuring him maximum support in excelling in his duties.

” Tunde Rahman is an embodiment of knowledge in image management. He has been exhibiting this act since the beginning of the day he started with President Bola Tinubu as Media Adviser. We have no doubt that he would deliver on the mandate given to him as SSA Media. He also has the clear understanding of how the Traditional and Online Media work. He is in vogue with the latest techniques of reputation management and brand communication.

” As someone we believe in him and his capacity, we are ready to give him all neccessary support to actualise the promotion and projection of not only President Tinubu to the world but government programmes and policies”, said the Online Media Practitioners.

Tinubu on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Rahman as his SSA on Media alongside 19 others. Some of the appointees were Tope Ajayi – Senior Special Assistant (Media- and Public Affairs); Segun Dada – Special Assistant (social media); Sunday Moses – personal assistant (videography); and Taiwo Okanlawon, Personal Assistant (state photographer).

Rahman was political editor of the Daily Times before he moved over to the Punch where he headed the Abuja bureau of the newspaper and later the group news editor of the paper at its headquarters in Lagos.

He later moved to ThisDay newspaper where he held several editorial positions, including the editorship of the Sunday paper before establishing WesternPost on September 2014.

Rahman recently bagged an MBA from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
