The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state has lambasted Governor Sani Bello for lack of prudent management of resources, asking the State House of Assembly not to approve the N2billion the governor is seeking for unidentified projects‎.

State Deputy Chairman of the party, Barrister Tanko Beji made this known on Tuesday during a press briefing at the party secretariat in Minna, saying that the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government has not done anything for the last 100 days in office, except spending over ‎N200million to fill potholes in parts of Minna‎.

‎Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dr. Ibraheem Dooba swiftly reacted, explaining that Governor Bello is seeking approval for N2billion from the Assembly because the PDP-led government left debt for the APC.

According to him “If the governor is seeking for money and he is following the due process of asking for permission and approval from the State Assembly, is because they (PDP) left us with nothing.‎

Beji while tasking the State House of Assembly not to approve the N2billion Governor Bello seeks for unidentified projects added that the government is yet to focus on issues of relevance but busy taking luxury in commissioning projects executed by the PDP government in the state.

‎”Who gave him the approval for spending such huge amount of tax payers’ money when there is no cabinet in place yet? He asked rhetorically.

Beji further stated that “the governor is busy spending whopping sum of amount running over N200million to fill potholes in parts of Minna, the state capital alone.

“Now, he has gone to the State House of Assembly to seek approval so that he can collect N2billion for unidentified projects. That is another attempt by the governor to tie the people of the state into another round of unnecessary depth.”

Dooba, speaking on the filling of potholes, told Our Correspondent through telephone that “we are not only filling potholes, we are building roads. We have finished most road projects that they left unfinished including the Kuta road and that of Bosso road that was left at 85 percent ‎incomplete. For 3 years they could not finish it but we did and finished it in just 2 months. These are some of the things that we do with money.

“‎Actually, some of these money, they have already awarded the contracts. The process of contract awarding was followed, we only asked the contractors to come back and complete their work if they have been paid.”
