According to his words, Prince Bankole affirmed that most of the foreign contractors being hired by past governments have no identification or roots, they just bumped into the job through one crude way or the other and present some juicy contracts to the government who in turn offer them chances of constructing our own roads, houses to the detriment of our own people.
“We should allow Nigerians to build roads for Nigerians. Government should encourage local content in the construction sector. Nigerians are hardworking and resilience, what needed to be done is identify with honest and transparent local contractors and support then with the necessary funds for them to realize their aims. We are a dogged people who would do the right thing if well harnessed and motivated”
Prince Dr. Bankole says President Tinubu must do everything in his capacity to encourage local contractors by giving them a high level or percentage of patronization, awarding them contracts and making them part of his infrastructural development plans for the country. He also stressed that the government should provide an enabling environment for dealers in building materials by opening up the space for prices of materials to be cheap so that everyone will purchase them with affordable prices. This is how the Nigerian construction industry can grow and achieve its desires of providing good roads to the people and affordable houses for the masses.
The highly successful real estate merchant also advised fellow contractors and property practitioners to make transparency and honesty their watchword. They should endeavour to be truthful saying that some of the ‘Judas Iscariots’ among them go as far as selling 100 units of flats to 1000 people. According to Prince Bankole, this is evil and illegal while he also adviced the youths in the real estate sector to shun obnoxious competitions amongst themselves.
