Re- LASUTH Allegedly Rejects a Patient with Medical Emergency
The attention of Management and staff of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) has been drawn to a video post on Instagram by @instablog9ja on Saturday, 27th of March, 2021 alleging that LASUTH rejected a patient with medical emergency.
Conversely, the Management of LASUTH will like to categorically state that we do not reject patients. In addition, we will like to reteirate our commitment to providing quality and prompt healthcare services to our patients.
Herein below are the facts:
Firstly, a patient called Opeodun Akinsola was brought to LASUTH Surgical Emergency yesterday afternoon at about 1:00pm and he received first aid, promptly before being referred to other tertiary hospitals on account of non-availability of bed at that time.
At about 9pm, same day, he was brought back to Surgical Emergency, this time, he was escorted by hoodlums who came into the Hospital premises disguised as relatives and demanded for immediate bed allocation. They eventually forced themselves into the building and in order to abate the crisis, the patient had to be admitted on an ambulance stretcher where he was treated pending the availability of bed space.
As seen in the video and reported by our security operatives, they rough handled our staff who were at their duty posts. Upon assumption that their aim has been achieved, they dispersed swiftly from the Hospital after the arrival of the Nigerian Police Force.
The person who recorded the video made his/her intentions known that it would be shared with instablog9ja and other social media platforms.
We would also like to mention that we have Zero Tolerance to assault. Anyone caught in any act of threat, abuse or violence towards any member of our Staff will be prosecuted.
In conclusion, we wish to state that our management and staff are passionate about the healthcare of everyone who comes to LASUTH and will continue to provide quality services at all times.
