Serena Williams Shows ‘Super Woman’ Attacked Thief Who Grabbed Her Phone In A Restaurant
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, tennis superstar Serena Williams described an incident where a man tried to steal her cellphone at a Chinese food restaurant — and she tracked him down to get it back.Serena, the younger of the Williams sisters, said she was eating at the restaurant when she became suspicious of a guy standing next to her. She did not say in the post where the restaurant was located. “So this guy is standing next to me and something (I have now dubbed it my SUPERHERO sense) told me to watch him,” she wrote. “My phone was sitting in the chair but I just didn’t feel right. He was there too long.” The 34-year-old said she wondered if the suspicious man was a customer, and tried to shake an eerie feeling she had.”However, I kept watching him from the corner of my eye. Than when least expected (sic) low and behold this common petty thief grabbed my phone and swiftly left. I looked at the chair, than shouted “Omg that dude took my phone!!'” she recalled.Williams said without thinking, she reacted. She said she jumped up, weaved her way through the restaurant, leaped over a chair or two and chased the suspected thief down.
“He began to run but I was too fast,” she wrote.
Williams said she was on him in a flash.”In the most menacing yet calm no nonsense voice I could muster I kindly asked him if he “accidentally” took the wrong phone,” she recalled. “He stumbled on his words probably not expecting this to happen. While he was thinking of the right thing to say and eventually he said “Gosh you know what I did! It was so confusing in there. I must have grabbed the wrong phone.'”
