Shiites Muslims Killing: Senate Set-up Committee To Probe Incident

The Senate on Wednesday set-up an Adhoc Committee to probe the recent killings ‎of members of an Islamic sect (Shiites) in Zaria, Kaduna State by some soldiers.

The Nigerian Army had on Monday admitted the killing of seven members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria ‎in an effort to protect the convoy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

The convoy was said to have been attacked by members of the sect.

However, after over an hour closed-door meeting by senators, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, announced the constitution of an adhoc committee to investigate the killings.

The Standing Committees of the Senate that will participate in the probe are the Committees on Defence, Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, National Security and Intelligence, Judiciary and Human Rights
