Finnish side Kuopion Palloseura have completed the signing of defender Azubuike Egwuekwe from Warri Wolves on a year deal.

The Nigeria international becomes manager Marko Rajamäki’s second top class signing following the acquisition of American Freddy Adu. Egwuekwe who made the Super Eagles squad to the 2013 Fifa Confederations Cup, 2014 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 Fifa World Cup has a chance to bag another year renewal if he shines in his debut season. “Finnish football club Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) and Nigerian national team player Azubuike Ekwuekwe have signed a 1+1-year contract,” the club announced on their website. “The 26-year old defender has played for Nigeria in the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013, in the African Cup of Nations 2014 and in the World Cup Qualifiers 2014. He also participated at the World Cup Final Tournament in Brazil 2014.”

He will compete with Sharp Räsänen, Hamed Coulibaly, Mikko Pitkänen and Tuomas Rannankari for a chance for a regular shirt for the Savon Sanomat AreenaKuopio giants.
