With or without these great men who currently constitutes the management team of Dangote Group still in office, the success story of the group may not be completed if they are not mentioned in the future. Undoubtedly, it is a known fact that, Africa’s Richest Man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote conceptualized the conglomerate, but the efficacy of the bright brains has often being the rallying point the supremo himself relies on for his huge investments that cut across many African Countries. All the Management team we can tell you for free, apart from good salary, enjoys irresistable allowances and benefits that only few Oil Companies could afford. Housing, Health, Cars, Furniture, just to mention a few. However, one thing is certain, all the members are well qualified and deliver based on their professional expertise and what is expected of them. For those who do not know, Aliko has always reiterated that non of his Management member can be poached by any top company in the country because they get the best from the group. SANI DANGOTE
He his the brother of Aliko Dangote, well established himself. Sani is the Vice President of the Group, his power and influence is enormous in the team even though he isn’t playing major role in the real core activities of Dangote businesses. Though he resumes to the Dangote Head office as his main office, Sani has his own fleet of businesses in Manufacturing, Oil and Gas to mention a few. Unlike other management members of Dangote Group He does not receives Salary but receives Special allowances on the instruction of the President. He his very intelligent and very quiet like his brother.
ABDU DANTATA
Abdu is like a Uncle to Alhaji Aliko, very powerful and influential in the Company. He also makes decision, has the power to sack erring staff as well as recruit when neccessary. He his the Group Executive Director in Charge of Logistics and Distribution. He was the Executive Director, Sales & Marketing in the Dangote Group, a position he held since the Group was established more than 20 years ago. He his one of the few signatories to Dangote Account in the Management Team. His Salary is between 2.5million and 3million apart from other huge allowances that would strike you.
OLAKUNLE ALAKE
This petit but extremely intelligent man is the engine room and heart beat of Dangote Group. Alake is the Chief Operating Officer, a very quiet, unassumming but result oriented Chartered Accountant. He also holds a Bachelors Degree In Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He left Aliko Dangote’s defunct Liberty Bank to team up with the Group. Since he joined, all Chief Financial officers, Group Financial Officers of the Group are all under him. He also handle the Administrative section of the Dangote Group and Dangote Industry Ltd. For Alake who is more like the number 3 man in the Group, his take home is huge just as his responsibilities stand out but he delivers. His Annual Salary is up to 100million and receives up to N14million furniture allowance every year. The Group takes care of all his household expenses apart from all other allowances he his entitled to. Alake is also another signatory to the Groups Account.
JOSEPH MAKOJU
A reliable Special Adviser to Aliko Dangote, for a former Minister of Power and Special Adviser to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo to pitch his tent with Dangote Group, that tells you why he his a member of management team and how big he’s going to be paid. Though Makoju basically Operate as the front man in Dangote Cement, Aliko does not jokes with him, he enjoys all benefits of the team and his salary is about N4million naira. He represent Dangote in all Cement events even outside the country.
KNUT ULVMOEN
Knut, a Norwegian, is the Group Managing Director, Dangote Cement Plc. He is in charge of Sales and Marketing and International Trade in the African continent. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Business. He has been with Dangote Group since 1996, one of the oldest in the team. Many old members would recalled that Knut was the one that started the Sugar Refinery with the group. Well experienced and reliable, Knut, has feels more like a Nigerian now and has huge influence on decisions taken within the management team. His Salary is now up to N3million as a foreign expatriate paid in hard currency. Mr. Ulvmoen, who was also Group Managing Director/Chief Operating Officer of the Dangote Group between 2002 and 2007, played a key role in strategic conceptualisation of the Group’s largest expansion project ever in building an integrated cement factory at Obajana, Kogi State and in acquiring majority ownership of Benue Cement Company Plc (BCC), plus establishing among others, the largest sugar refineries, flour milling, pasta production plants and polypropylene plants in the world. Mr. Ulvmoen also had a key position in expanding Dangote Group’s transport unit.
SADAN BAKI
Baki is a very strategic member of the Management team, a Group Executive Director. Many have always described him as brave, strict, intelligent and hardworking. A graduate of Economics from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Baki is also a security intelligence officer. Aliko enjoys his company because he handles special cases that need a brave and skilled executive. His Salary is between N2.5 and N3Million as well as other juicy benefits annually.
DEVAKUMAR EDWIN
For those who are familiar with the Group, Edwin is fondly called ‘The Don of Dangote Group’. He handles all Projects of the Group, Edwin was at a time MD/CEO of Dangote Cement, now he his the Executive Director Projects. Presently among the Projects he handles for the Group is the Refineries, Petrochemical, Fertilizers etc. Edwin for his hardwork, got a Chieftancy title in Ijebu, Ogun State a couple of years back. He’s a Graduate and holds Masters Degree in Engineering from the Madras University, India . He is also a Chartered Engineer. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IITM, Holland. Edwin joined the Dangote Group in 1992 as a General Manager and was responsible for two textile mills under the control of the Group. Extremely powerful in the team at the moment, he also handles all of the Groups projects in other African Countries. Edwin operates more like the number 4th man in the Group. His huge cost of living is regarded as a necessary burden on the Group being an expatriate. Also, due to regular travels to monitor all projects of the Group, his allowances, we learnt is more than any member of the Management team. Edwin salary is about 25,000 dollars (over N5million) monthly.
ALHAJI TAJUDEEN SIJUADE
Alhaji is a well experienced businessman, he enjoys great relationship with Aliko who regularly has one or two things to confide in him. Alhaji Sijuade joined the Dangote Group in October 1989 as a Chief Accountant. Before then, he had worked for Nestle Nigeria Plc and Akintola Williams-Chartered Accountants. He became General Manager in the Dangote Group in January, 1998. He sits atop many Boards as an astute businessman. He rose through the ranks to become Executive Director in Dangote Group. His Salary is also about N3Million and enjoy full allowances like other member of the team. He also have the power to wield the big stick on any erring staff.
MONSUR AHMED
Ahmed is one of the Executive Director that has spent least year on the Board, he joined the team in 2013, he his the Director, Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Communications. A thouroughbred professional who knows his onions. He has a first degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nottingham University (1972) and a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and Administration from Cranfield Institute of Technology (now Cranfield University 1975) both in the United Kingdom. He also has a post graduate certificate in Investment Appraisal and Management of the Harvard Institute of International Development. He had a successful career at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where he served in various capacities including Managing Director and Chief Executive. He now works assidously along with the likes of Mr Oare, Tony Chijiene , Sunday Esan in the Corporate Communications to make sure the Group enjoys good relations with the public. He enjoys a good remuneration as well, his basic salary is up to N3million.
USEN UDOH
Udoh is another new entrant into the Management team. He has a vast experience in Human Resources. Udoh is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School and holds an MBA from the University of Leicester School of Management, but he obtained his first degree in Bachelors of Engineering (with Hons). He his presently the Group Chief Human Resources Manager. His cross-country experience and skills span human resources strategy formulation, corporate direction setting, large scale organisation review, business process redesign, business diagnostics and enterprise business transformation, implementation of policies, processes and procedures, project and programme management. His take home, we learnt is about N2.5million but enjoys all the huge allowances like others
