Tunji Braithwaite Dies At 82, His Life And Times
Elder statesman, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, is dead, The Lawyer and Politician died on Saturday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos. He was 82.
His son, Olumide, was said to have confirmed the death of Braithwaite.

Braithwaite was born in 1933 in Lagos, the youngest son of eight children. He was educated at the prestigious C.M.S Grammar School, entering the school’s Preparatory Section in 1946 and completing his education there in 1953.
He proceeded to sit for his A Levels at the London University at Kennington College in 1955 and enrolled in 1957/58 as a Law student at the Council of Legal Education, London.
He was admitted into Lincoln’s Inn that same year and graduated as a barrister in 1960.
Braithwaite came into prominent in the Second Republic, particularly in 1983 when he registered the National Advance Party (NAP). He contested the presidency losing to the incumbent, Alhaji Shue Usman Aliyu Shagari.
He also unsuccessfully contested the Presidency in the short lived Third Republic against late Head of State, General Sani Abacha on the platform of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM).
Since then, he has been involved in various advocacy activities aimed at ensuring that the ruling class do what is right in the interest of the people.
He married his childhood sweetheart; Grace S. Falade in 1956 while they were undergraduates. They have 5 children and many grandchildren
