‘Why I quit banking for acting’
Fast rising actress, Christana Oluwatoyin Olorunfemi has explained the main reasons she decided to call it quits with banking, a lucrative profession and opted for acting.
According to the talented role interpreter who had worked with United Bank for Africa(UBA) for about seven years before throwing in the towel at the A- list financial institution in 2013 and joined the movie industry, ” Although, banking job is very lucrative as many may say, it’s monotonous and time consuming; I can’t continue with that kind of job. As a banker, you do the same thing everyday, and you spend the whole of your day in the banking hall, sitting in the same place. You don’t have any time of your own. It’s time consuming and stressful most times; hence my decision to call it quits. I resigned as a cash officer and joined acting in 2013. Since, I have not regretted my decision. I am enjoying myself as an actress.”
On the journey so far, the pretty thespian expressed, “Yes, it may not be said to be 100 per cent smooth, but it’s fulfilling and enjoyable being an entertainer. And I am sure, very soon, I will attain the desired height in the industry.
” Since I started, I had featured in countless movies, including Wura Nla, Omin, Alaafin Molete, My Secret, Asorosangbesi, Amendment and many more while I am also warming up to shoot my own movie, and that will surely happen very soon by the special grace of God.”
On the rumoured sexual harassment in the industry, especually by producers and marketers, Olorunfemi said, “That has not happened to me. So, I am not aware of anything like that. Besides, It’s God that can make you a star, not the number of producers or marketers you sleep with. That’s my belief, and it has been working for me since I started out as an actress.”
